Angus News Update
Sept. 16, 2005

Make Plans for the National Conference and Tour

It isn’t too late to make plans to attend the National Angus Conference and Tour, set for Sept. 27-29 in Kansas City, Mo. Although the early registration deadline has passed, those interested in attending can still register. The registration fee is $100. Those who need to register can do so by sending an e-mail to Linda Campbell or calling her at (816) 383-5143.

To register online or for complete information, including a schedule, go to www.angusjournal.com/nationalconference.

September is Last Month for Free Conversion

This is the last month to take advantage of the opportunity to store your registration certificates electronically, free of charge, at the Association. Registration certificates that are electronically stored can be electronically transferred through AAA Login and Angus Information Management Software (AIMS).

Conversion of printed registration certificates to electronic storage generally costs $2, but, for a limited time, the Association is offering a free conversion period. Members wishing to convert registration papers to electronic storage free of charge should send papers to the Association by Sept. 30.

Although electronic storage can be an efficient way to manage cattle within your herd, those exhibiting cattle at an Association-sponsored show must still carry the original registration paper with them.

Register Now for Cattlemen’s Boot Camp

The American Angus Association is partnering with Colorado State University (CSU) to conduct the first-ever Angus Foundation-sponsored Cattlemen’s Boot Camp. The event is set for Oct. 20-21 at the CSU Agricultural Research, Development and Education Center (ARDEC).

The Boot Camp is limited to the first 150 producers. Interactive learning sessions and industry experts will provide information about marketing, breeding and selection. Registrations, which cost $75 per person, are due to the Association by Oct. 7.

National Western Bull Consignments Due Oct. 1

Consignors have until Oct. 1 to enter bulls for the 2006 National Western Angus Bull Sale at the National Western Stock Show (NWSS) in Denver, Colo. The fee is $350 per head. Remember, all consignments must have Angus Herd Improvement Records (AHIR) performance information to be eligible.

For more information call sale managers John Dickinson at (916) 806-1919 or David Gazda at (706) 227-9098, or contact Linda Campbell at the Association at (816) 383- 5143
