House Ag Committee Reviews Price Reporting Bill

July 25, 2005 — The U.S. House of Representatives Agriculture Committee is scheduled to markup a bill (H.R. 3408) introduced by Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and Ranking Member Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) to reauthorize the Livestock Mandatory Reporting Act of 1999 on Wednesday, July 28, 2005. The mandated reporting program covers information from packers’ purchases of hogs, cattle and sheep, as well as boxed beef. Originally set to expire in October 2004, the statute was extended until Sept. 30, 2005.
