Welcome to the Angus e-List

Deadline nears for electronic storage of registrations

Angus breeders have until Sept. 30 to take advantage of a free service offered by the American Angus Association.

Members and affiliates can choose to have their performance registration certificates (PRCs) converted into electronic format, free of charge, to be stored at American Angus Association headquarters in Saint Joseph, Mo. After the Sept. 30 deadline, however, a $2 correction fee will be assessed for any printed registration papers being converted to the electronic format.

The electronic option, designed to help eliminate mail time, postage costs and unnecessary paper shuffle, also gives producers the option to electronically transfer certificates. Breeders can access herd information from AAA Login at www.angus.org, and they can request a printed copy of an electronically stored registration paper at no charge. Plus, all registration and transfer regulations and fees will remain the same.

Bryce Schumann, director of member services, says the process won’t change how breeders register their cattle or the authenticity of their registrations or transfers. "The largest advantage for breeders is the convenience," he says. "They can send work in anytime, 24 hours a day.

"It just simplifies the process and gives producers more options," Schumann adds.
