National Western Bull Sale consignments being accepted

The early consignment deadline the 2005 National Western Angus Bull Sale at the National Western Stock Show (NWSS) is Sept. 15. Angus breeders consigning their registered bulls to the sale by the early deadline will pay a $300 consignor’s fee. All entries are due Oct. 1, with a $350 fee for consignments after Sept. 15.

All bulls entered in the Association-sponsored sale, set for Thursday, Jan. 13, at the Beef Palace Auction Arena in Denver, Colo., must have complete performance data and be enrolled in the Angus Herd Improvement Records (AHIR) program. It’s recommended bulls also have ultrasound measurements for carcass merit and ultrasound expected progeny differences (EPDs). Bulls will be shown Thursday morning by age and will be featured in a sale book posted online and within the December Angus Journal.

Regional manager and sale co-manager David Gazda says the sale is a "unique marketing opportunity for Angus breeders, regardless of size, to showcase their breeding program in front of literally thousands of commercial and seedstock producers at the largest and longest continuous-running livestock show in the country."

For more information on the sale, contact Gazda at (706) 227-9098 or co-manager John Dickinson at (916) 806-1919. For consignment forms and information, contact Linda Campbell at (816) 383-5143.
