Iowa Angus Tour scheduled for Sept. 5-7

Producers are invited to attend the Iowa Angus Tour, Sept. 5-7, and examine some of eastern Iowa’s finest genetic programs. Tour headquarters are in Walcott, Iowa, at the Comfort Inn, which is located off of Interstate 80 at the Walcott exit.

The tour kicks off Friday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m. with supper and entertainment at the Riverboat Casino. The tours on Saturday and Sunday will feature a judging contest, which will be held at several of the stops. The contest will include classes for juniors and adults. Terry Chapman and the Kirkwood Community College judging team will coordinate the event.

On Saturday, buses will be provided for participants and will leave the hotel at 7:30 a.m. To reserve a seat on a bus, contact Tricia Holmes. Tour participants will visit Da-Es-Ro Angus Farm, Columbus Junction; Claussen Family Angus, Stockton; Swanson Angus Farm, Forest City; Laudmere Angus Farm, Durant; and Olson Acres Ltd., Grand Mound. A barbecue at the Dixon Legion, Dixon, will wrap up the day, with American Angus Association President Steve Brooks as the featured speaker.

On Sunday, a caravan leaves the hotel at 7:45 a.m. The tour will visit Schroeder Angus Farm, Clarence, and Wagner Angus Farm, Monticello. The final stop is Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids, for lunch and the announcement of the judging contest winners.
