Mists of Autumn Print to Sell in Angus Foundation Silent Auction

A featured item in this year’s Angus Foundation Silent Auction, which will be conducted during the 2003 National Junior Angus Show (NJAS) in Louisville, Ky., is a limited-edition print of Frank Murphy’s Mists of Autumn painting. The print is number 5 in the series of 500 that were offered several years ago by the Angus Foundation.

"We consistently receive phone calls about this print and where it can be purchased," says Susan Rhode, director of communications and public relations for the Association and coordinator of the Angus Foundation Silent Auction. "All of the original prints have been sold, making this donated print the only one available at this time. This is truly an opportunity for the Frank Murphy art collectors who missed out when the prints were offered."

The print of Murphy’s oil-on-canvas work is signed and numbered by the artist and originally sold for a $100 donation to the Angus Foundation. It is professionally framed with a textured mat and black frame with a beaded edge, making it a distinctive addition to the décor of any home or office.

Frank Murphy’s signature and the 5/500 mark appear at the bottom of the print, along with the Mists of Autumn title. The print was donated to the auction by Keith Evans, former director of communications and public relations for the Association.

The Angus Foundation Silent Auction is one of the highlights of the week-long NJAS event. All proceeds benefit the Angus Foundation, which supports youth, education and research related to agriculture.

The NJAS will take place July 13-19 at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville. The silent auction will open at noon, Wednesday, July 16, and will close at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 19. All times are EST.

Other items in the auction include:

  • Aberdeen-Angus, The Story of Our Breed book, 1919-1969
  • Limestone Rock with Angus Bull Carving
  • Montana Angus Tour Package for Two
