API Web Marketing to Provide Real-Time
Coverage of National Junior Angus Show July 8-13

Junior Angus exhibitors are headed to the 2002 National Junior Angus Show (NJAS), in Milwaukee, Wis., this week. The Wisconsin Angus Association and Wisconsin Junior Angus Association will host the event, "Angus Under the Big Top."

The Angus Productions Inc. Web Marketing department will provide real-time coverage of the event. Go to www.angusjournal.com/njas to follow events throughout the week. Photos from the event can be purchased at www.AngusPhotos.com.

Young Angus enthusiasts from 33 states expect to enter 1,281 head in the week-long event that has grown into the largest single-breed beef cattle show in the world. In addition to the cattle shows, various educational contests and leadership opportunities will take place for all members of the National Junior Angus Association (NJAA).

Judges for the cattle show include Jack Ward, Lagrange, Ind., who will evaluate the owned females; Charles Boyd II, Mays Lick, Ky., who will judge the bred-and-owned females, bulls and cow-calf pairs; and Doug Parrett, Champaign, Ill., will select champions in the steer show.

In addition to the cattle show, various educational contests will take place. Both prepared and extemporaneous public speaking, team sales and quiz bowl, along with poster, photography, graphic design and writing contests will be held. The American Angus Auxiliary will also sponsor the All-American Certified Angus Beef® Cook-Off. As well, six members will be elected to the NJAA Board of Directors during the week.

A new program will be introduced at this year’s event — a mentoring program that will match experienced NJAS exhibitors with first-time exhibitors. The program is designed to help first time attendees to the large event learn more from their peers about the various shows and contests, and gives older exhibitors leadership opportunities.

More than 50 contestants will compete for the title of champion showman during the finals of the 36th National Junior Angus Showmanship Contest. Only two exhibitors from each state can compete. Showmanship judges include Brian Finnestad, Rochelle, Ill.; Heather Kalino, Elk Grove, Calif.; and Chad Ward, Eldorado, Ohio.
