Angus breeders and commercial cattle producers from across the United States are invited to attend the 2001 National Angus Conference and Tour, set for September 30-October 3, in North Platte, Neb.

Producers unable to attend can listen to a live broadcast of speakers on the World Wide Web during the conference. The broadcast is being sponsored by Sydenstricker Genetics, Mexico, Mo., and R&R Cattle Company, Keithville, La. The broadcast can be accessed at www.angusjournal.com/nationalconference.

"Leading the Angus Advance" is the theme for the four-day event, which includes a workshop program, two-day tour and one-day conference program. A collection of speakers is scheduled to discuss current topics ranging from the basics of production to emerging new technologies in the beef industry. Dr. Bill Mies, Future Beef Operations and formerly of Texas A&M University, will deliver the keynote address.

Registration for the conference on site in North Platte is $80. All attendees must make their own hotel reservations by calling the Quality Inn & Suites Sandhills Convention Center directly at (308) 532-9090. A special rate of $69 plus tax per room has been negotiated, which includes up to four people. Rooms in the Angus block will be released August 31 and will be on a space-available basis only after that date.
