Youth Farm Safety Day Camps
Scheduled Across Ohio
COLUMBUS, OHIO (April 7, 2010) — Spring is here and so begins a new season for farm safety for approximately 2,000 Ohio youth.
Farm Safety Day Camps are once again offering communities invaluable lessons about rural dangers through a variety of educational sessions. The camps are a collaborative sponsorship among Ohio State University Extension, Ohio Farm Bureau, Our Ohio, and Ohio 4-H Foundation. This year's theme is "Planting a Good Habit for Farm Safety."
"These day camps provide young people with educational activities about hazards of the farm," said Dee Jepsen, Ohio State University Extension state safety leader. "Awareness and education about the hazards are the first steps in reducing injuries - and not just to the kids who live on farms, but also those who visit the farm."
